Day 2 of Surfing in the Bazaar | At Samsung Store for Galaxy Tab 10.1

On my next day in the bazaar, I was strongly in the mood to have a look at Samsung Galaxy Tab, which is said to be a close competitor of Apple's iPad. As usual in this weather, it was raining that evening but Delhi ain't seem stop a little. Well, I continue surfing wet roads in my Beat.

Again, a usual smell of gadgets, I found myself inside the Samsung Showroom. Samsung is known to me for its LCD TV, I have in my bedroom. And, also, I recently come to know that Samsung also manufacture laptops etc. However, I had heard about Galaxy Tab in December of last year. Well, lets jump to present now!

On first encounter, this jewel of Samsung looks attractive piece. With 10.1" and 1280x800 widescreen display, it sports a tangy view. Let's have a look at this gadget in our usual way.

If we talk about style, its look is in no way inferior than Apple iPad. Also, it weighs much less on your palm, only 565 grams! When I hold it up to 15 minutes and try my maniacs on this tab, I feel relaxed. If we talk about visual graphics, with 4-way rotation and 149 ppi, it produces drastic images. Also, Android graphics are really impressive.

With 1 GB RAM and 1 GHz Dual Core NVIDIA Tegra 2 Processor, I find it sufficient to satisfy your inside technocrat. As claimed, it is multitasking. On battery life, it has inbuilt 7000 mAh battery with which it can play video up to 9 hours and, the most impressive feature is that if you wanna play audio alone, it can keep you playing up to 72 hours unleashed!

Well, small apps on the panel are really attractive. Samsung Touchwiz UX supports Live Panel and Mini Apps, which makes it more interactive.  Samsung Hub’s music hub provides search and download options to more than 11 million tracks (as it claims) and also having other reading material including magazines, e-books in 49 languages! On camera side, it has powerful 3MP auto-focus back camera with HD(720p) video recording capability and 2MP front camera. Also, you can share your photos instantly with Picasa, Gmail and through messaging. It provides usual 30-pin dock connector for connecting it to your external display.

The most impressive thing that strikes my mind as a businessman is that it has Mobile Office. It means you can open and edit Word, Excel and PPT files in the Polaris Office. In addition, it has Google Mobile Service, which includes Gtalk™ Video Chat, Gmail™, Youtube™, Google Maps™, Google Altitude™ and you can also use Android Market™ to buy or try latest Android applications.

GPS and turn-by-turn navigation through Google Maps™ provides you better mapping experience. I am impressed by its sensors, which includes, accelerometer, gyroscope, ambient light sensor and compass. Moreover, it has high speed Bluetooth 3.0, which enhances your Bluetooth experience!

The TABLET world | Comparison of various Tablet PCs in the Market

It was raining heavily in NCR region last evening. But, the tech devil inside me was trying to rush-out. So, in my Beat, I left for the Apple Store first because I was in the mood of exploring Apple’s iPad and Samsung Galaxy along with Motorola’s Atrix.

Day 1 of Surfing in the Bazaar | Apple iPad 2
As usual, when stepped into stepped into Apple store, my favorite smell of gadgets welcomes me. Wasting no more time, I moved for iPad.  On my first encounter with iPad reveals the edges. Well, the first thing I noticed was that it is very compact, that’s thin, about 0.34 inches, as the retailer told me. So, now I am gonna describe it my usual way.

On the very first look, it impressed me. It claims that it is now 33% thinner and 15% lighter than its previous versions. Well, when I hold it in my hands, there was no doubt. Its glossy finish add-up a new jewel to your stylish look. It weighs very light, about 600 grams, which keeps your palms unstressed even if you hold it without any support for a long time.  And, yes, the cute branding of Apple makes it more stylish. Overall, on style factor, I must say, iStylish!

When I moved to its specifications, I found it has powerful 1 GHz dual core Apple A5 chip, which is in my opinion, will provide satisfactory tablet PC experience.
The iPad is available in two variants:
1.       iPad with Wi-Fi
2.       iPad with Wi-Fi and 3G
Surely, Apple has learnt from its previous experiences, and, hence the two variants. Both of the variants are available in three storage segments, 16, 32 and 64 GB respectively.
If I talk about its display, it has 9.7-inch (diagonal) LED-backlit glossy widescreen Multi-Touch display which is capable of generating 1024x768-pixel resolution at 132 pixels per inch (ppi). It has dual cameras. Back camera supports HD recording up to 30 fps, whereas front camera is VGA with same fps. Still camera is also impressive with 5X zoom.
If I talk about battery life, it has built-in 25-watt-hour rechargeable lithium-polymer battery, which can power it smoothly for 10 hours on Wi-Fi and 9 hours on 3G connectivity.  It can be charged through power connector or it can also be charged by connecting it other PC through USB.

Since, multimedia is what I long in any gadget, I then moved to have a look at its multimedia capabilities. Well, it has mic, built-in speakers, 3.5 mm headphone mini jack and 30-pin dock connector port. However, I must say that as usual, I am not very much affected by the performance of built-in speakers, but, overall, they are satisfactory.  And, if you don’t bother about spending a little more for multimedia buzz, you can buy separately Dolby Digital 5.1 surround sound pass-through with Apple Digital AV Adapter. That’s really what I want from any tablet, and is much impressive to resist if you are a music lover like me.

It has three powerful sensors including three-axis gyro, accelerometer and ambient light sensor. It supports video mirroring and video out, but you have to buy cables separately. It supports a wide range of video formats also. Also, it has a wide language support including English (US), English (UK), French (France), German, Traditional Chinese, Simplified Chinese, Dutch, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), Portuguese (Portugal), Danish, Swedish, Finnish, Norwegian, Korean, Japanese, Russian, Polish, Turkish, Ukrainian, Hungarian, Arabic, Thai, Czech, Greek, Hebrew, Indonesian, Malay, Romanian, Slovak, Croatian, Catalan and Vietnamese.
